“Identity is an interesting thing, and although we try to avoid being pigeonholed or categorized, others are quite willing to do it for us. Sometimes we acquiesce to their hearsay because we are too tired to explain yet again that we are not what others perceive, that we are trying to define an ever-developing identity ourselves, and that the name is not the thing.
In my own search for art, for how to express and communicate ideas, I have used different mediums and definitions to provoke thought and open eyes to things others might ordinarily be blind to. I have written and photographed and spoken, sometimes to the point of being described as this or that thing when the truth is that I am just a man who may or may not do all of those things.”
